Athletes of all levels are invited to register for the 11th annual Navigators KIC IT Races, which will be held June 23 and 24 at Cummings Beach in Stamford, Connecticut. The Navigators Stamford KIC IT Races raise awareness and funds for 40-year old Kids In Crisis, a free emergency shelter and 24-hour crisis counseling resource for Fairfield County children and families.

“Fundraising remains critical for our agency, as we continue helping vulnerable children and their families navigate difficult times,” said Kids In Crisis Executive Director Shari Shapiro. “We encourage athletes to consider fundraising and those who do receive exclusive gifts and discounted or free entry as a small token of our gratitude.”

The popular kid’s triathlon will ‘kic’ off at 8a on Saturday, and is open to children ages 6-15. 10:15a begins the 5K for all ages, self-seeded by athletic ability. On Sunday, triathletes can participate in Relay, Sprint or Olympic races, beginning at 7a. All race courses have been modified for 2018 by Hartford Marathon Foundation (HMF), the non-profit race production company operating the events.

“We don’t want the term Triathlon to scare anyone away” says Alon Marom of Kids In Crisis. “While we do have plenty of highly skilled athletes participating, we also invite beginners, relay racers and families to join in!”

Fees vary by race, and relay teams, as well as individual participants, are encouraged to register. Athletes who register as a “Fundraiser” will receive free or discounted registration, VIP Parking on race day, prime racking spots, upgraded goody bags, a high-end half-zip pullover and much, much more! Fundraising athletes are eligible to win great prizes that have included round-trip airline tickets on Jetblue, a 3-night-stay at the Navigators Corporate Apartment, and a brand new road or triathlon bike!

“Athletes can expect course updates and operational tweaks to ensure an enjoyable race,” said Race Director Josh Miller of HMF. “In particular, we’ve adjusted the single loop bike course for the Sprint Triathlon and the double-loop for the Olympic distance. We hope everyone’s experience with us exceeds expectation!”

The Navigators Stamford KIC IT Race Series has quickly become one of the area’s premier multi-level sporting events and, at the same time, one of the most fun-filled, family-friendly experiences around.
