First County Bank Spotlight – Jagjiwan Singh

Meet Business Development Officer, and Assistance Vice President, Jagjiwan Singh.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I love to spend time with family — my wife and our two boys — our favorite thing to do together is cycling to the beach in the summertime.

Do you have a secret talent?

I love to play basketball, soccer, and work-out. I wish I was tall — at least 6 feet — as I really think I would have made it to the NBA!

What is your favorite part of your role with First County Bank?

I came from mid-size and large banks so I can personally tell how we are different and it’s simple; we are a mutual bank so therefore we do not have the pressure of reporting back to shareholders. Instead, we can focus on our customers, community, and employees.

Do you have a favorite First County Bank moment?

I started at First County Bank in the Summer of 2016 and one of my first tasks was to deliver 10 checks to local nonprofits. I was shocked by this. Coming from a big bank, we never did anything like this. It was a great feeling to be able to give back and I’ll never forget the smiles on those faces. Those organizations really needed these funds and this action showed how much First County Bank really cares about the community in which we serve.

Is there anything else you’d like to say about you or your experience at the Bank?

Most of the nonprofits I have visited in Fairfield County do not know how much we have given back to the community. The First County Bank Foundation was started in 2001 has provided over $9 million in grants and this truly shows who we are.
