First County Bank Welcomes New CEO Nitin Mhatre

STAMFORD, CT, April 21, 2026 — First County Bank is pleased to announce that Nitin J. Mhatre officially assumed his role of Chief Executive Officer on April 15, 2026. Mhatre succeeds Robert J. Granata, who has led the Bank with distinction and will remain as Chairman through July 31, 2026, before continuing to serve on the Board of Directors. First County Bank’s Board of Directors selected Mhatre following a thorough evaluation, citing his extensive leadership experience and alignment with the bank’s mission and community partnership.

Mhatre joins First County Bank with over 30 years of banking leadership experience in both U.S. and international markets. Most recently, he served as President & CEO of Berkshire Bank, where he led significant strategic and digital transformations while modernizing the client experience. Under his tenure, Berkshire Bank was recognized by Newsweek as one of “America’s Most Trustworthy Banks” for four consecutive years.

Mhatre holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and an MBA from Bombay University and has completed Harvard Business School’s General Management Program. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Consumer Bankers Association, including as Board Chair, and has held board director roles at Junior Achievement of Connecticut and Cradles to Crayons Boston.
