Small Business Saturday

To support National Small Business Saturday on November 30th, Branch Managers Sheila Content and Mike Victor, along with Cash Management representative Andreea Pamint, were in attendance at the Norwalk Library for the Holiday Market presented by Norwalk Now and the Wall Street Neighborhood Association. The First County Bank team outfitted the Holiday shopping event that featured local businesses, with giveaways and financial information to support business owners and shoppers alike.  The event host – Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling- stopped by our table for a quick photo opp with our team.

Filling in the Blanks Mobile Food Pantry

‘Tis the season of giving, and giving back is just what the First County Bank team did at the Connecticut Food Bank’s  Mobile Food Panty, in partnership with the nonprofit organizations Filling in the Blanks and Family & Children’s Agency.  Team teal was hard at work unloading pallets from the truck and on to the food distribution tables, while other bank volunteers handed out fresh veggies, eggs, laundry detergent, and more, to Norwalk Families in attendance.  Our team moved quickly, providing food to over 225 families in one hour!  The First County Bank team had a rewarding experience giving back to our local community.

I am a mother to two adult children ages 24 and 21. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my kids (whenever I can), and staying busy working around my house-especially in the summer months.  I also spend a lot of time hanging with my sidekick Stella – a 5-year-old Boxer/ Pitty rescue dog, who loves our long walks.

Do you have a secret

Organizing! I love finding ways of making life easier by having an organized home and office, while keeping clutter at bay.

What is your favorite
part of your role with First County Bank?

My favorite part of my role with First County Bank is being
there for my customers. My customers know that when they have a question, an
issue or a life change, they can come to me for help. I really enjoy helping my
customers understand their finances so they can achieve their personal or
business goals. It is great to get to know my customers and their families.

Do you have a
favorite First County Bank moment?

I have a lot of favorite moments being with the bank for 10 years. But, the moment that stands out the most for me is when I had the pleasure of helping a family of five with their mortgage which ran smoothly, allowing the family to move into their new home just in time for summer.

How to deposit checks from your phone

Mobile Banking provides an easy way to check your banking tasks off your to-do list, with one of its most convenient tools: mobile check deposit.

When you receive a check eligible for mobile deposit, simply open the First County Bank mobile app on your compatible smartphone or mobile device and select "Deposit a Check," then select the account to receive the deposit and enter the amount of the check.

Next, take a picture of the front and back of the check.  Endorse the check and write "For mobile deposit only."

Next, tap "Make a Deposit" and your submission is complete. We’ll do the rest. The best part is you can view a copy of the check any time.  For complete details, click here.

Not using Mobile Banking? Now is a great time to start.

Stamford Downtown Balloon Parade 2019

The First County Bank team marched through the challenging weather at this year's Balloon Parade.

Scooby-Doo took to the rainy, windy streets of downtown Stamford with 52 volunteers serving as balloon handlers, banner holders, and street team members. We marched and spun our way down Summer Street and Atlantic Street in front of big crowds, as spectators waved our teal "SPIN" signs while chanting for us to spin, and cheered us on from start to finish!

A big thank you goes out to our balloon handlers, who did an outstanding job helping Scooby say hello to his many fans. And special thanks to the street team for their efforts on Atlantic and Prospect Streets.

Take a look at some of our team in action!

How to avoid online shopping scams

Cyber Monday may be over, but the online shopping continues with many of us doing much of holiday shopping from the comfort of our couch.

While most legitimate retailers have deals and specials going on, scammers also take advantage of the holiday. Learn how to protect yourself from cyber scams:

  1. Don’t open links or attachments in emails
Fraudsters send emails that are designed to look exactly like the emails from popular retailers, but with bad links which can install malware on your computer, or direct you to a fraudulent site that asks for your personal information.
  2. Use a secure network
Beware of using unsecured Wi-Fi or public Wi-Fi networks, like at a coffee shop or airport. Hackers may be able to access the sensitive information you share while using these networks. Need to connect? Consider using a firewall to protect your transactions and information.
  3. Beware of offers that sound too good to be true
There are likely going to be many good deals out there, but if something sounds too good to be true, it likely is. Read reviews about a company or product to make sure the company is legitimate.
  4. Diversify your passwords
Once a hacker cracks one of your passwords, they are likely to try it on your other accounts. Using different passwords for each account can protect your information.
  5. Update the software on your device
Software updates typically include security patches, so it’s best to make sure everything is up to date before doing your shopping.

Finally – Protect yourself from “porch pirates”
Unattended packages on your front porch are easy prey for thieves. Instead, have packages delivered to an office, or submit a request to shippers such as UPS and FedEx to have deliveries left in a protected area. Buying from Amazon? You may also select to have your packages delivered to a local locker.

WEBE108 First County Bank Coat Drive

The Webe108 First County Bank coat drive was a huge success!
We received about 300 coats during the 2 week donation period, which were all provided
to the Bridgeport Rescue Mission. But, that’s not where our support ended.  The week before Thanksgiving our team was
onsite at the Bridgeport Arena lending a hand. One group assisted as personal shoppers,
helping those in need pick out warm winter coats for themselves and their
family, while another group handed out turkeys and all the fixings for a
Thanksgiving meal.

In just under three hours we were able to help over 225
families pick out a warm winter coat and pick up food to make a home cooked meal,
in time for Thanksgiving.

We want to give thanks to all those who contributed to our coat drive, and to Webe108 and the Bridgeport Rescue Mission for including us in this great day of giving back.
