First County Bank Announces New Executive Leadership Team

Robert J. Granata named Chairman & CEO

STAMFORD, CONNECTICUT, August 6, 2019 - First County Bank’s Board of Directors announced the promotion of Robert J. Granata, to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Willard M. Miley, to President and Chief Operating Officer (COO). on which was made public with the announced retirement of Reyno A. Giallongo Jr. as Chairman and CEO.

“We send our heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Giallongo as he embarks on new adventures, while also looking back with gratitude for his dedication and service to the customers and employees of First County Bank, as well as the greater Fairfield County community,” said Mr. Granata.

Mr. Granata joined First County Bank in 2007, serving as President and  Chief Operating Officer of First County Banksince 2014. He was recently named to the Bank’s Board of Directors.

“I am excited to lead this organization, continuing the goal of being an independent mutual bank committed to helping individuals and businesses meet their financial goals within the markets we serve,” said Mr. Granata.

Mr. Granata is very active in the community in many capacities including serving on the Board of Directors of the Fairfield County Hospice House, the Ferguson Library, the Mill River Park Collaborative, the Business Council of Fairfield County, and Stamford’s Downtown Special Services District. He also serves on the Leadership Council of Fairfield County Childcare Learning Centers.

Mr. Miley started his First County Bank career in 2002 and was most recently promoted to Executive Vice President, Retail Banking Division. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Stamford Public Education Foundation (SPEF) and the Housing Development Fund, Inc, (HDF).

Mr. Miley earned his bachelor’s degree in business from The University of Bridgeport and graduated from the National School of Banking at Fairfield University and the Connecticut School of Finance and Management.

Teen Chefs’ Sticky Maple Syrup Challenge

Public and Celebrity Judges to Choose Winner at Stamford Museum & Nature Center

STAMFORD, Conn., March 4, 2019 – Five talented teen chefs will compete in First County Bank’s Teen Chefs Challenge event on Saturday, March 9 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Stamford Museum & Nature Center during the Maple Sugar Festival Weekend. The teen chefs will compete in an exciting competition to create delicious dishes featuring Stamford Museum & Nature Center maple syrup as a main ingredient. This is the 19th year First County Bank has sponsored this family festival highlighting the New England tradition of maple sugaring.

Teen chefs competing are Danielle Weinberg Barro, Ella Schweizer, Maximus Galarza, Quanyia Ariyan Hackney and Rio Fernandez. They will battle it out at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center’s Knobloch Family Farmhouse. The teen chefs will each create 300 tasty samples of their dishes for the public and celebrity judges to sample. The cooking competition and voting are from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and the public is encouraged to cast their vote for the best dish. The winner will be declared by popular vote and by a panel of celebrity judges at 2 pm.

Danielle Weinberg Barro will celebrate her 13th birthday on the competition day. She is from Scarsdale and attends Scarsdale Middle School. For many years, Danielle’s mom has taken her and her sister to the Teen Chefs’ Challenge. She has always admired the chefs and aspired to join the challenge as a chef as soon as she turned 13. “I am very excited to be one of the participants this year. I have been cooking and baking with my grandmother since I was very little. I am eager to be able to cook and bake by myself now that I am older.”

 

 

 

Ella Schweizer is 13 years old and is from Norwalk. She attends West Rocks Middle School. She is involved in drama at school and also at Crystal Theatre. Ella is a ballroom dancer who has a sister and two beloved cats. When she’s not cooking, she watches Netflix and listens to music. “I want to participate in this challenge because I love to cook. I love recipes and I love the little farm at SMNC.”

 

 

 

 

Maximus Galarza is 16 years old and a freshman at J.M. Wright Tech in Stamford. For the past 5 years, he has been interested in cooking, especially after smelling all the wonderful aromas coming from his mother’s kitchen. He enjoys experimenting with different recipes and flavors. Maximus has an older sister and two older brothers whom he admires very much. “I would like to participate in First County Bank’s Teen Chefs Challenge because cooking has been my passion since I was very little and I feel I can make a name for myself in the world of food.”

 

 

 

Quanyia Ariyan Hackney is 16 years old and is a freshman at J.M. Wright Tech in Stamford. “I want to participate in the First County Bank Teen Chefs Challenge because I want to learn something new. I am interested in meeting new people that also know how to cook or bake.”

 

 

 

 

 

Rio Fernandez is almost 14 years old, is from Bristol, and has been baking for three years. He is homeschooled and is on a travel baseball team with CT Edge. He volunteers once a week by making dessert for Meals for Neighbors, which serves up to 100 people every Monday through Thursday. Rio is a big fan of the Fortnite video game and his cute puppy Coco. “I want to participate in this challenge because it will make me a better baker and I love baking and competing. The experience will help me communicate better in social situations.”

First County Bank Announces Executive Leadership Promotion And Succession Plan 

Stamford, Conn., September 17, 2018 – First County Bank announced Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Reyno A. Giallongo, Jr. will retire in August 2019. He has held the position of CEO since 2011. Under the succession plan, approved by the Board of Directors and effective August of 2019, Giallongo will be succeeded by Robert Granata, current president and COO. Willard M. Miley was promoted to executive vice president by the Board of Directors on August 1, 2018 and in August of 2019 Mr. Miley will assume the role of president and COO as Mr. Granata’s successor. This announcement comes from a deliberate, carefully thought out strategic succession plan. The Bank will use the coming year to transition its internal, external and community partnerships with a seamless change in leadership.

Reyno A. Giallongo, Jr. is chairman and CEO of First County Bank and has served in this capacity since 2011. In addition, he is president of the First County Bank Foundation. Mr. Giallongo serves as chairman of the board of directors of the Business Council of Fairfield County and serves as board member of the Housing Development Fund. He served as a member of the Connecticut Bankers Association board of directors; was chairman of the board of commissioners of the Stamford Downtown Special Services District; was a member of the ABA’s Community Bank Council; and served on the New York Federal Reserve Bank Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council, (CDIAC). Mr. Giallongo earned a master’s degree in business administration and finance from Babson College, his bachelor’s in business administration from Salem State University and graduated from Stonier Graduate School of Banking.

Robert Granata is president, COO of First County Bank and has served the bank in this capacity since 2014. Mr. Granata brings more than 31 years of experience to the role and is a corporator of First County Bank and on the Board of Directors of the Fairfield County Hospice House, the Ferguson Library and the Mill River Park Collaborative. Noah Lapine
Noah Lapine is owner and president of Lapine, Inc., a brand performance agency and family business which began as a merchandising agency in 1962. He has over 22 years of experience with the company, and has 14 years in his current position. Lapine manages the overall strategy and strategic client relationships for the agency. Lapine is board chair of the Stamford Academy, and a board member of both Mill River Park Collaborative and the Young Presidents Club (YPO) Fairfield Chapter. He graduated from University of Rochester where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and English. He also earned his Master of Public Administration degree education from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. Lapine lives with his family in Stamford, CT.

Edward Marcantonio
Edward Marcantonio is a principal in the Westport, CT law firm of Hermenze & Marcantonio, LLC. He practices in the areas of estate and trust planning and administration, and is licensed in both Connecticut and New York. Marcantonio is a member of the Estates and Probate Sections of the Connecticut, Fairfield County and New York State Bar Associations and the Estate Planning Council of Lower Fairfield County. He was a past president of the Westport Bar Association and past chair of the Estates and Probate Section of the Fairfield County Bar Association. Marcantonio serves on the board of trustees for the Connecticut Food Bank. He was a member of the executive committee for the Westport Democratic Town Committee, board chairman for Assessment Appeals and served on the board of directors of the Westport-Weston United Way. Marcantonio graduated from Columbia College with a Bachelor of Arts in Russian Studies and earned his Juris Doctor degree from Fordham Law School. Marcantonio and his partner live in Westport, CT.

James McArdle III
James McArdle III is owner, president and CEO of McArdle’s Florist and Garden Center, a family owned business serving its community since 1910. The business is a fixture in Greenwich and has hosted the Reindeer Festival, and joined forces with Friends of Autism, Breast Cancer Alliance, Greenwich Land Trust, Boys and Girls Club, Kids in Crisis, Adopt-a-Dog and many other organizations. McArdle serves as an elder at Stanwich Church, is on the board for the Center for Hope and Renewal. He also serves on the advisory board for Breast Cancer Alliance and Greenwich Tree Conservancy. McArdle earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University, majoring in Horticulture and minoring in Business. McArdle lives in Greenwich, CT with his family.

Ryan Moran
Ryan Moran is founder, president and CEO of Coastwise Capital, LLC, which is a privately held company founded in 2006 and located in Southport, CT, where he directs the investment, management and operations of the company. He is a member of the board of directors for the Fairfield Theatre Company and helped start Kayak for a Cause. He graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, NY with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering. Moran lives with his family in Fairfield, CT.
