First County Bank Spotlight – Maria Hirnyk

Meet Maria Hirnyk, Assistant Branch Manager and Digital Ambassador at our Glenbrook Stamford Branch.

Tell us a little about yourself!

I’m a native of Ukraine and have been residing in the US since 1997. I have two adult kids, Vlad and Juliana and four beautiful grandkids – two of which are twins. Thankfully, we don’t live too far apart, so we can enjoy regular family gatherings and outings, which is a big part of who I am.

I love to travel around the world, whether just with my husband or our entire family, and explore all the different cultures and sights. It’s amazing to see how we’re all so different, yet there is so much that joins us together.

Since the unrest in Ukraine, I have become more involved in the local Ukrainian community, actively organizing fundraisers and clothing drives to assist the civilian people in need back home.

What is your secret talent you’d like to share so we know more about you?

Gardening is my secret talent; you can say I have a green thumb. There is nothing that relaxes me more after a long or stressful day than weeding my garden or planting some new flowers and herbs. I even have planters inside my home to play around with during the cold winter months.

What is your favorite part of your role with First County Bank?

My favorite part of my role as Assistant Branch Manager and Digital Ambassador,  is being able to build, enhance and nurture personal and business relationships with my peers, coworkers, customers, and the community we serve as a Bank. It feels good to be able to positively affect people’s lives and know that you played a role, no matter how big or small, in them achieving their financial or personal goals.

Do you have a favorite First County Bank moment? This can be any moment at the Bank that has made an impact on your life.

Being a part of First County Bank for almost 20 years it’s tough to pick a favorite moment.  There are so many happy and positive memories that I have been able to create together with customers and coworkers. If I had to choose, I would say that my favorite is all the fun times at bank wide employee events that bring us all together, like our annual summer picnic, where we create fond memories.

What can Customers come to you for?

Absolutely anything, and I mean that. There is no problem too big or too small that I can’t tackle. Whether it’s financial advice, onboarding our customers with our latest digital tools like Zelle®, offering a second opinion, or just listening to  customers vent  about life’s tribulations, I’m always eager to lend an ear or come up with a solution.
