First County Bank Spotlight – Sebastian Kulesza

Tell us a little about yourself!
My family immigrated to the United States from Poland in 1994, when I was 12 years old. Coming to the U.S. and living in Brooklyn was a total culture shock for me, but like Frank Sinatra once famously sang: “If you can make it in New York City, you can make it anywhere.” The rest is history.
Currently, my wife and our two young children reside in Norwalk, or as I often joke, “sleep in Norwalk” because we spend most of our time at work, volunteering (which you can see in my LinkedIn posts) or spending time with our extended family in Stamford. My biggest hobby is travelling with family and friends and discovering and learning about other cultures and all the wonders that life has to offer.
I have often been described as being naturally charismatic and always in a positive mood. People tell me all the time that I should run for a political office. Who knows, maybe one day?
Do you have a secret talent, favorite hobby, or pastime?
My biggest hobby is traveling with family and friends. I really enjoy discovering and learning about other cultures and seeing the different wonders of the world. So far, my favorite place that I have visited (or re-visited I should say), was traveling back to Poland, especially after not visiting for 28 years. It was a treat to go back after all those years and see how the country grew post-communism. It has so much to offer culturally and historically, and its natural beauty can be unmatched.
What is your favorite part of your role with First County Bank?
My favorite part of my role as Branch Manager would be the positive impact that I have on my customers and my employees. From providing my customers with solutions so they can work towards achieving their financial goals, to coaching and mentoring my employees aiding in their career growth and development, seeing the impact I had on their success is very fulfilling to me.
Do you have a favorite First County Bank moment? This can be any moment at the Bank that has made an impact on your life.
After nearly 21 years at the Bank, I’ve had the pleasure of being part of many memorable moments and events. As it is hard for me to pinpoint one moment that stands out above them all, I would say the most impactful “moments” would have to be all the times throughout my career that I received guidance and mentorship. Having people throughout the bank support me and wanting to see me succeed has led me to be the best version of myself every day, for my customers and my branch team.
What can your customers come to you for?
My customers can come to me for anything, big or small. Whether it’s financial advice, a review of their accounts and services, how to use some of our digital banking tools, or just to meet for a cup of coffee and conversation, I am open and ready for anything my customers bring my way. It’s the personal attention and trusted advice that matters most to them.
